Just found the chart below while reading up on evolution, and how our paleolithic bodies fare in today’s world. For one, we sure don’t burn calories like we used to. This is from The Story of the Human Body, by Daniel Lieberman. Just makes me want to get up from the computer and garden. Then maybe I can eat some donuts (increasing the risk, of course, of industrial age ailments like type 2 diabetes and heart disease and cavities — although those, writes Lieberman, we can also attribute to the rise of agriculture in general.) If you are interested in this kind of stuff, its a dense but fascinating read.
